For customers looking for maintenance-free decking we recommend Trex and Timbertech.

Each product is very similar. There are some color differences. The installation process is identical and there are some cost differences. TimberTech has always coated the bottom of their boards whereas Trex has just begun that process. Each company offers a very similar warranty.

Both companies offer a variety of vinyl and aluminum railing systems with and without a wine glass cap. You can mix and match between the companies if you find one flooring you like and the other railing you like. Typically our customers go with the same manufacturer for the railing and for the flooring.

Trex and TimberTech Use a slot fastening system so one clip slips into each side of the decking board and is screwed down to the joists you don’t see the fasteners and they allow for expansion and contraction.

The substructure is made of treated lumber two by six or two by eight joists and we always build with a twin beam construction with six by six posts in the ground three feet deep 2 foot wide holes with a foot of concrete at the bottom and we backfill with dirt gravel and or concrete. All of our 6 by 6 posts are notched at the top so the twin beam rests on a solid piece of lumber and our hardware simply holds it together but all of the weight is properly distributed to the footer where it belongs.  When possible we always build with multiple twin beams to be sure the deck carries its own weight rather than putting the weight onto the building. This isn’t always possible so there are times where we need to use joist hangers and carry off of a structure.

We still build lots of wooden backs both with treated lumber red wood or any other kind of lumber our customers want. The rule of thumb with wooden decks is they last as long as you take care of them. The maintenance issues with wooden decks our highest for those decks exposed to the sun if your deck is going to be under roof or is not exposed to much sun it will last a lifetime without a terrible amount of maintenance. A deck exposed to the sun all day will need to be stained at least every other year. If you don’t mind this maintenance and what that look wooden decks are great products. If you have a wooden deck under a roof or not exposed to the sun at all the staining of that deck would only be every five to six years depending on your preference.

This is a common practice. We do it often as long as the substructure is in good shape we have to inspect each board sometimes we have to replace a few. If the substructure is not sound or rotted it will need to be replaced.

This in direct relationship to the size of your deck And the weather.  Typically we can install a 200 to 300 square foot deck in two to three days if we’re building from scratch. 1000 square foot deck we start to look at seven working days. We’re able to accomplish this because we have up to a 7 man crew due to the fact we’ve been in business for 30 years we know how to get jobs done efficiently.

Yes we are expert roof builders. We will design A roof over any of our decks our typical designs are shed roof Gable roof and hip roofs.

If the roof covers the entire deck it typically takes the same amount of time so if you have a three day job with a shed roof over it that would now become a six day job. Depending on the height of the roof it could be 25% more time than the deck.

Yes we will schedule a time that’s convenient for you to come out and review your project.

Yes we use eagle eye to look at the property and if you know what you want to buy in terms of material for decking and railing and have your dimensions of the deck you want to build we can give you a good estimate over the phone. In order to do business we will need to come out and get detailed information and drawings for a formal contract before we can move forward.
